SYMBOL AND LOGOTYPE

February 2026

For this project, we had to create an abstract and simple symbol of an animal that we first drew realistically. Then after using Illustrator, we created digital graphics of the animal. After creating these we created logotype with those graphics. The logotype was developed by editing and manipulating a typeface to construct a logo from various elements of the abstracted drawings. It encouraged exploration of multiple approaches to creating logotypes and combination marks, reflecting the iterative process involved in designing a logo or visual identity for a company or business.

Final Iterations:

For the combination mark I was trying to figure out how to make the snake feel a part of the “K”. I struggled with where to end the tail of the snake because I didn’t want it to feel separated from the rest of the letters. I was originally favoring the green choice because it felt more like a snake. But in the end I choose a red color because it overall fit the company I wanted to pursue with this logo and sleekness of a snake which was what I was going for.
